Nice looking car. (Quote: THIS IS A ONE OF 160 OR SO 1971 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 455 HO WITH RAM AIR. PHS DOCUMENTED)

455HO car, yes. But non-ram air from the factory. Functional Hood and matching air cleaner are an extra cost option on the 71 Formula 455HO. You had to check the option box to get the functional Ram Air in 71. (Which would also be listed on the PHS).

In 72, Functional hood/ram air was mandatory as part of the 455HO package on the Formula.

That is a sweet car in my opinion despite the little and correctable flaws. It has my preferred option list (no a/c or rubber roof) of 455 HO, M22, Saf-T-Trak, gauges & tach, it just needed the Handling Package (except factory 15's!) and deluxe interior (added PUI) added to the window sticker.

If I hadn't already bought the one I did last year, I'd give this one some serious thought. I agree that the price is too high missing the original motor and tranny. The rear spoiler has to go too.

Actually, it is optioned pretty ideally except for not being ordered with Ram Air, the Handling Pkg, and Custom Interior. I like the stripes but may look better in the recommended black (to go with the black interior).

When I think about it, the only options I don't like on my Formy are the A/C and rubber roof (which is history), everything else is fine in my book. At least I have the numbers matching engine and trans.

I would love to see if there is a strippo 455HO/Raim Air/M22/3.73 saf-t-trak with maybe soft ray glass (all),HD radiator and battery, and the 15" Rally II's (I don't think you could get the 15" steelies in '71) out there somewhere. That would be my ideal Formula.

The LH fender may be a factory replacement fender. I think have one of those 71 replacement finders with the bracket holes.

Think that's the same car that has been on ebay multiple times. Has been bid to $21K +, I believe, with no sale.

In MY book.....ANY 71-72 bird with a factory 455 HO in it.... is worth 25K all day long....if it's #'s match drive train....with MOST original parts..runs and drives....and the rust is repairable..without throwing away the body tub.....

And this one is THE most desirable....Blue/blue stick with NO A/C....

Am I wrong?...

Car has a correct engine, but not her born-with engine. Cannot remember if he told me carb, dist., or manifolds are correct. And I thought Blue was the LEAST preferred interior color these days for 1970-72, below black and white - but I stand to be corrected by those who have bought and sold more of these cars than I have.

Blue interiors seem to be the most common. My '70 has blue... I prefer black interiors myself.

My 2 cents worth on blue innards,....it seems less popular because we see so many with White paint. I'm sure the highest color combo. But Blue with Blue still seems to be Ok with many.
BTW, some guys actually WANT A/C.

My old '72 Formy was Lucy w/ blue deluxe gut - LOVED the combination, but that's just me . . .

And I'm with you on the A/C, Ric!

Sticky or stinky? One of these I think has already been achieved.
No sticky probably due in part to guys like me making comments like I just did.
