Coca Cola promotional copy of The Shadow, Monster Songs in screaming stereo featuring Sounds of Man's Inhumanity to Man on side #2, Original uncut version of War of the Worlds, and some WC Fields for good measure. The free pop poster is long gone unfortunately.

Funny how whenever I put an LP on I often notice the words to the songs are actually included on the Album cover or LP sleeve

My new vinyl exploratory of the somewhat unfamiliar to me: Gram Parsons. Pulled out Grievous Angel that I had never played and it is some great stuff! Genius. Need to get some Burrito Bro's. I also need to play Byrds Sweethearts of the Rodeo with Gram on it.

Played King Curtis Live at Small's Paradise last night. That cat was great, too bad murdered. I need to get his Live at Fillmore East for definitive King Curtis. He could play sax! His Blowin' In The Wind is spectacular. His horn was his voice.

Saw Neil Young last month and he blew the roof off, still reeling over that one! People walked out in dumbfounded amazement after over.

"Completing the trilogy with "Cry of Love" and "Rainbow Bridge", "War Heroes" is a posthumous compilation of previously unused recordings, the exception being Highway Chile which had been a B-Side and his "Smash Hits Collection". Of the three albums, this is the weakest. It's one for the Hendrix collectors, but anyone who isn't a true Hendrixphile might be better off just buying the "first Rays of The New rising Sun" album."

No flame or intended...as showed my Mrs and we've not included this one in our collection...yet. really interested in impressions of this one...might be just in time for Christmas if it's worth obtaining.

Depends what your tastes are. I prefer more of a raw sound and really like demos, and just jamming sessions etc. (I've heard Hey Joe and Watchtower enough) The sound quality of this vinyl release is extremely good plus the fact that my LP is a hot stamper only helps the cause.

ELO just did a huge show at London's Hyde Park last year for 50,000 fans. I watched it about a month ago on the Palladia HD channel. Very cool! They sounded incredible, played everything faithful to the original versions. ELO played all their their hits, and had about 15 people in the group along with a full string section. It was fascinating to see how the string section, who play very "square" and have no connection to the rock music being played, followed the original arrangements laid down by Jeff Lynne.

I think some of the vocals were re-recorded for the DVD and broadcast release, but that's quite typical. Live performances, on record, aren't really live.

ELO should be in the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame, but I've brought up that old chestnut so many times I'm starting to give up hope.

No doubt Jeff Lynn and ELO deserve recognition but seeing who all gets in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame lately I'm not sure its much of a reward.

A tale of two Miles Davis Porgy & Bess albums.

Right: Original 1959 pressing "deep groove" - Six Eye label. Recorded in mono. Nice album and needle care instruction on the inner sleeve. Interesting how these were advertised as "unbreakable vinyl" as opposed to fragile 78-rpm records which were more common until this time.

Left: Mid-70s in stereo.

The original has much better sparkle & sound. Vinyl seems to be twice as heavy and thick as the later release. Perhaps something was lost when it was transcribed to stereo.

I like that the Booker T album was owned by a doctor. Must have been a groovy doc.

The Beatles '65 is a later pressing on the Apple label - they sure did like to layer on the reverb for the US pressings.

A local antique store has a new vendor with vinyl bins, and they must have scored some good collections, as almost all were very good shape and some great oddball and unique finds yesterday. Were very nice priced at 4.50-6.50, kind of low surprise. Were 10-15 values on much I bought.
