So I had these shift rods gold cadmium plated in 07, yes 2007! Long slow project. Anyway, they sat on the tranny and collected dust. Over time they ended up looking like this. You can see how they only discolored on the tops.
I ended up reblasting them and painting them cast grey. Not ideal but will last much longer.

Been getting a lot done on the car a little at a time. Here is an example. Sand blast tiny screws, paint them and install on restored blower motor.
Hope I don't see this again anytime soon as fenders are scheduled to go on tomorrow. Going to try and post some other progress tonight if time allows.

Oh jeez ... great idea on the bolts ... for years I've holding them in my hand in those big ass gloves and doing them one at a time.

Finding and cleaning the correct bolts (some got primer on them), going thru pictures to verify where they went etc..... Took half a day but got one fender on. Went great as we already and the shims marked as to where they went and we also had 1/8" alignment holes to line the fender up right where it should go.

 . When you have time could you post a few pictures of where you drilled the 1/8th inch holes for alignment? Sorry to see the cadmium plating eroded. I installed a complete front end on the 68 442 only to watch the finish do the exact same thing over a period of time, prior to getting back on the road. Glad to see the progression. As always your work is second to none!

Also did the doors and decklid this way. Here is a shot of a door hinge.
 And a shot of how we kept all the bolts and shims in order when removed from mock up.

Took a while and some help from fellow PY members for me to figure out the orientation of the inner fender splash shields. I had no picture of the lower ones. After some debate on how they came from the factory I am convinced they were installed a couple of different ways. I went with the one that made the most sense to me and that is shown in the picture below.
 The upper shields I had a picture if and although I believe they were also installed from the factory a couple of ways the picture below shows how mine came.

Here is a shot of the restored tilt column that will be going into Nana's car. It is not the original to the car as it did not come with a tilt wheel.
Interesting bit of trivia is that the ignition switch found on the column (green thingy in pict) is different from tilt to standard column. On a standard ignition when you turn the key it pushes on the rod that actuates the ignition, on the tilt column it pulls.  And finally a shot of the Dynamat I installed under the dash on the cowl for noise and heat reduction, along with the restored heater box.
