I just saw this at this moment. I've been away. So so sorry to hear this. Eric was one of the top good guys on the forums. So sad that this happened. RIP Eric. You did good and you were a huge plus for the Pontiac community. You will be missed by all. My condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear that Eric has passed. Some of you have lost a friend, all of us have lost a huge contributor of our Pontiac hobby.

I have had the pleasure of calling Eric my friend since 1986. As many others have testified, Eric was a passionate car enthusiast, historian, collector, story-teller and one of the most decent people a person might ever be lucky enough to meet. I just exchanged emails with Eric this past week regarding our Muscle Car Classic Show and I am saddened to have lost a friend so much before we could imagine he would be called home
There will be a void in our hearts and our hobby. For those who never met him personally, you missed one of "the good guys". I say not farewell; rather, until we meet again.

I just heard about Eric early this evening from a very good friend. This is a very, very sad day in not only the Pontiac community, but the old car hobby in general.
Eric was one of the most active, well liked, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Pontiac and general car person I have had the pleasure of knowing. Also one Great illustrator. He will be greatly missed. Prayers go out to his family!! R.I.P. Eric Jim Early Jr Last edited by gtojim73; 03-19-2016 at 09:52 PM. |

I never met Eric in person, but I had some very nice phone conversations with him talking about the details of the early GTO's.
Everytime I hung up the phone I would think....he is one heck of a nice gentleman. He left an empression on me for his ear and his knowledge! His awesome "Illustrated Identification Guide" book is the best GTO publication out there! Huge Loss. Chris. |

People will often say that somebody touched them or had an impact on something in their lives. Eric without question has left his fingerprints all over this hobby - he will be missed.

Eric will be missed! I can honestly say that he is my 1st friend in this GTO world I now live in. I met him at a local POCI meeting in November '85, I had just purchased my Uncle's 1967 GTO Convertible. Weeks later, Eric was with me as we broke loose the nuts on the rear bumper bracket bolts. Once broke loose, the nut could be turned by your fingers. Eric commented "this is a very clean and original GTO, you'll have to make this a GREAT ONE!" In June '87 I was married and Eric was in our wedding party. One week later Eric and I were headed to the GTO Nationals, having finished my Goat the night before. You could say that I spent my honeymoon with Eric-LOL! Pictured are our two '67's loaded up and ready to head off to the '87 GTO Nationals, towed by our C-600 we owned together. I will greatly miss him!
