Is that a 400?
A customer/friend of mine i just built a 408 for had that cam in his 9.00:1 400 with #16 D-ports, iron 4bbl, log manifolds, 2004R trans 2800 stall, 3.42 gears and it was a turd! His was the HC-02D 232in 242ex .lift is high .400's 112lsa I am asking because i am planning on putting it in a 10-1 467 with SD CNC 270cfm #17's ported iron intake, 900cfm Q-jet, i will be using 1.72' rockers with it, i figure its good for 470-500hp in the right setup. If your engine is a 400 with 10.2:1 i can see that also working very well! That 408 i built is now 9.5:1 with 230cfm #16's, summit 2801 installed at 109ilc Its throttle response is night and day over his old setup! Its all about the combo! Thanks!

this is a 455. as i remember some of the specs on this cam are
.465" intake lift, .469" exhaust lift. Duration @ .050"- 231* intake 242* exhaust. 113 1/2* LSA. also running 1 3/4" headers with full exhaust. 11" TCI converter w/turbo 400 and a 3.73:1 12 bolt. Cast 16 heads with a cast iron 4 bbl intake, both gasket matched. this car runs like nobody's business. it never misses a beat. i've been running this combination for the past 28 years with no problems.

i do have a cam card somewhere. i'd have to really dig for it.
i bought and installed it in the mid-80's. i know it was made by norris cams. i believe h-o racing specialties used different cam companies to make their cams to their specs. i know the former owner of the company is a member of this forum. maybe if this post is read by him, he could chime in about specifications. i think there were 2 or 3 different hc-02 cams.

Can try here:
http://www.pontiacpower.org/PontiacCams.htm Or here: http://www.wallaceracing.com/cam-specs.htm If there's still no satisfaction, I can break out the H-O catalogs. .

just looked at a 1978 catalog.
more info in my post #67. from the links above, i think there are probably way more h-o specialties cams than we know about. i really don't know. my cam came as hc-02. no a, b,c,d suffix. the numbers i posted above are with 1.50:1 rockers.

I think I have 3 versions of the catalog, last one I think was like 88 or something. Maybe later I will dig them out, now I'm curious.
I ran H-O cams in the 80s in a number of engines/cars, think I tried a lot of available cams back then, H-Os were some of the ones I had success with. One summer I remember swapping cams like 6 or 7 weekends in a row. I had shelves of them, most were junk. Lunati, Crane, and H-O were the ones I generally ended up sticking with. Here's one of the Crane Hi-Intensity grinds that I liked to use with 400, as well as the next step up in the same line, would have to dig for that card. .

My HC-02 cam is:
301-313 Adv. dur. 231-243 @.050 113.5 LSA I don't remember the lift numbers off the top of my head but I do recall HO called this their "744 hi-lift cam". IIRC, Ken Crocie said there were several (4?) versions of this cam all with slightly different specs. I bought this cam back in the late '80s and I'm still using it. (With Rhoads lifters.)

Now that this poll has had time to gather 296 votes it's interesting to note that nearly half of the votes are for the old tried-and-true hydraulic flat-tappet design that was original equipment in 99.999% of all Pontiac V8s.
The hydraulic roller is quickly gaining in popularity, but it is still outnumbered by a margin of 3 to 2 by the old-tech hydraulic flat-tappet.

That's only because of the cost and people don't want to spend $1000 for
