Default Very nice 1969 Lemans...is this an HO car?

It's actually a 1968, the eBay ad says 69. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Pontiac...m=282243164019

Can't tell for sure without the PHS. Casting numbers and engine codes would help. Looks in the one pic like it has 47 heads which would be '69 350 2bbl heads.

BTW, it's a '68.

Very eye catching car but on closer inspection things like absence of any emblems or moldings and other incorrect bits tells me it's attractive but not particularly well put together. I must confess I hate GTO hoods on LeMans's.

Does have the correct air cleaner for a 68-69 350 HO.

Not a H-0 car with a 2 speed A/T. A T400 would be appropriate, also the TVS switch is ineffective, ATC is disconnected so the whole CCS system isn't working. The LeMans script is missing on the rear flanks. A very wet looking car, they didn't come that way.

gotta love it when they say they have the PHS but dont post it. i'd want to see it if they're trying to pass it as an original HO but we already know somethings wrong with those heads.

I totally agree with you on that one, if that was my car, I would put the Lemans hood back on and also Lemans emblems....It should have the PONTIAC emblems on the deck lid also.

a T400 would be a nice upgrade but only an ST-300 2-speed was available in '68 on a 350HO or regular 350 if you chose to have an auto. There's a chance the block is original and is a 350 HO although, as pointed out, it has the wrong heads. 18 heads are somewhat hard to find.
I have to disagree on the hood. My son painted his GTO hood to match his '68 vert LeMans because he likes the look. He still has all LeMans emblems and still has his flat hood. I'd wouldn't put one on my 350 HO vert though I do like the look too.
If he's gonna run a fake air cleaner decal I'd suggest the fake one my son makes (like the one in my avatar).

Quick update. It's not an HO car just spoke to the owner. Still a nice looking ride IMO

They must have changed that for 69 as I ordered my 69 LeMans H-0 with a T400

Yes in '69 they did improve on the '68 350 HO cars. 3 speed auto available, 48 heads with screw in studs and an extra 10 hp or so. I'm on the lookout for one.

The blocks are also notched for those heads too ( valves ). I was going to order a GTO until my cousin who was also my insurance agent pointed me to ordering my LeMans instead. Still have the car;

I had a 68 Lemans with a 350 2bbl, AC etc .... center console .... that was a power-glide? Only two speeds? Was a long, long time ago but I always remembered it as a three speed. Unlike my 66 326 2bbl Tempest that was definitely a 2 speed. Only owned the 68 Lemans for 6 months and for all I know it could have been a six speed

In 67 and 68 the only automatic option for non GTO A bodies was the 2 speed, Only GTO's had the TH400.

In 69 the release of the TH350 brought a three speed option to the OHC6 and the 350. In 69 both the 2 speed and the TH350 was offered with the base 6, the 2 speed auto was no longer offered with the sprint (now TH350 only), the 350 2bbl was offered with the 2 speed auto or you could order a 3 speed auto (TH350 without AC, TH400 with AC). The 350HO was available with only the TH400 as an automatic trans.

Looks good in the pics but pretty basic- 2bbl heads, no A/C or power brakes, bench seat, etc. And you can see by D-L on the indicator that it is a 2-speed.

I would like it a lot more if it had the original hood and Lemans badges, or if the engine was replaced with bigger cubes and the trans upgraded. Or both. But then again it might be a very nice affordable driver as-is.

The lack of any visual identity or promotion for the 350HO killed sales then and collectibility today. A shame since it was a stout engine, particularly the 69 with the great heads and hydramatic availability.

i've always wished it had some visual cues like the olds w-31 did, however i dont think it would have done very much to help their numbers. they even had some good press with royal pontiac testing both a 68 tempest & a 69 firebird. both cars responded very well to the 'bobcat treatment'. the probelem was IMHO was that the price difference for the 350 ho wasnt much different than a gto & gas was cheap. think of how unique looking of a car the gto was back then with its new bumper. so its big brother was its biggest competitor and thats probably what i would have done
