I hope that when people see the feature, they look beyond the LS in an older car controversy and understand the realities of why it was done. I think that people will be surprised when they find out who it is because he has built some amazing Pontiacs over the years and his loyalty to the marque at large is without question. Time marches on and none of us are getting any younger and the less time that you spend on the sidelines the better. By the way, the quality and innovation that went into this build is insane and I think that everyone (some grudgingly) will admit that this is a very special car that does everything well and doesn't have a trailer hauling it anywhere.

I hope this a wake up call to our vendors. I have my fingers crossed that My IA2 block ships on 1-2-17. I paid for a crank too, but they may have to refund my money!! Wow!

Last thing I would ever do is shove a BBC in my car. If not a Pontiac I would run a Olds or Buick. But we have far more parts available to us even though our engines dimensions are less than those for making power.
We can only thank the die hards Nunzi , H-O, Butler, even Wenzler, KRE, D Johnson, All Pontiac and so many more I forgot to mention for all we have today. (nice job CV, better not blow it) Thanks. BTW, me thinks if Curt listened to Mike,Scott and John he would still have a Pontiac in his car. Bet all he had to do was ask. It was Chevrolet that kept Pontiac from being the top GM car brand. Think about what would have happened if Pontiac had been allowed to develop that 1970 427 SOHC hemi. It would have changed everything. They would have been chasing us and PONTIAC would still be around today. Nothing but jealousy. And our cars, year for year were always better looking. |

I personally would not put a corporate engine in a Pontiac. I've always been a Pontiac engine guy and went to school to pursue engines further.
In my opinion, the LS engine is the best V8 design to date. Would I put it in a traditional Pontiac no, but I understand why guys would running class racing. For Curt's topic it's tough. Can a Pontiac do 1200 hp NA, yes. Can they do it with little maintenance, kinda. The bottom line is BBC 1200 hp NA engines are 632 cid peaking at 7300 ish rpm. A Pontiac at 540 can do this at 8400 ish rpm. The higher rpm is likely driving more spring maintenance. The bigger deal is the BBC has more are under the hp curve with the larger cid. A Pontiac will have a hard time even at the same peak power due to higher rpm (maintenance) and likely less area under the curve. I'd like to try a Pontiac but I understand why guys move to ctate 632 BBC's. |

Rex 565 makes peak under 8k rpm. For some reason every time I have seen a Pontiac make the same peak hp as a BBC, the Pontiac was always faster at the same weight on the track. You need a BBC w 1300hp to run the same as a Pontiac w 1200hp.
