question for convertible owners
I posted this in the Firebird section where it got some views but no answers. I figured I put it out here for more to see.
My 67 Forebird has a manual top which has a few holes in it at the fold points and the back window is shot. So time for a new one.*Has anyone replaced their top with one that has a glass back window?Have any of you guys bought one of the kits to convert it over to a power top?*http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/s...ion-1967-1968/

I have 62 Tempest convertibles. The price difference from a replacement rear window and an entire top and window was $75.00. Let's make the decision hard for me. There are so many small ways to really mess up how a new top looks on a car, it is one of the jobs that is better left to a professional. Talk to a shop or two in your area. They can answer the glass window question better than I can. And take my advice, pay the man to install it. You will be glad you did.

My '67 GTO was a daily driver and never garaged from 1983-1993. I had a new top installed in 1985 with the plastic rear window. By 1990, the window was opaque. Had a new one installed for $150 in 1991. Still in the car in 2017, and still clear. Car has been garaged since 1993, though, so sees limited sun exposure, though I drive it all the time. Top is still good 32 years on. Plastic is inferior to glass for longevity, but holds up really well on a well-kept car.

Thanks guys. I'll be paying someone else to install the top for sure. I know my limits. Lol
The reason I'm thinking glass is because I leave the top down almost all the time. Pretty much the onle time it's up is if I'm out and it rains or when its parked for the winter. It does develop a pretty bad crease across the middle.
