Thanks BJ, I really appreciate it and may just take you up on the offer. It was great hanging out with you this weekend, and I really appreciate you being the agile one willing to do the window escape. I've done it in a pinch, but 6'-3" and size 14 feet make it a little less than graceful. I need to get some honorary hats made up. There's at least 3 members here that would get one...

I have yet to clear out my interior, but it looks like I'm pretty close to where I see your car... (maybe a couple more inches to go?)

Darrell and his guys are starting to really move and the Starlight Black paint is flying. I won't try to describe his process, but this is a final black undercoat that gets sprayed and blocked one last time before the BC/CC gets applied. At home, the leaf spring bushings got pressed in tonight. The prior two nights the springs got assembled with the wonderful retainer clips that were reproduced by Craig "Norwood" Erlich.

Bob it truly looks great as it is coming together. I think that you have one of the best doing a great job for you. Between Darrell, Dave and yourself this car will be outstanding for sure.

Wow Bob! This car is going to be gorgeous! Based on how nice the cars at the TA Nats that Darrell painted looked, this one, in Black, is going to be eye-popping, jaw-dropping beautiful.

The bar has been raised to a much higher level with this car - congratulations to you all!

Wow. Looking fantastic Bob. I really like seeing only two tiny holes in that trunk lid!

Thanks for the very kind comments, but I think the only bar it is raising is the expenditure bar....We'll see.
The leaf springs are pretty much done with the exception of stenciling on the part number, and I'm having trouble finding correct looking stencils for this. Now to get the rear end and brakes assembled. ![]() Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Bob, here is the stencil I made off of my 72 T/A built the same time as the black car. At that time they used the same spring part number on both the left and right side.
All you have to do is enlarge the photo to the size where the ruler is correct, print it out, and then cut the letters out with an exacto knife. |

Thanks Steve. I'll give that a try. I also found an online stencil generator, but had to leave town for the weekend before trying it out.

Can't beat the original marking. It seems that at the end of the calendar year in 1971 they updated the part numbers and made them the same for left and right side. All this is buried somewhere in my original mega-thread that is now rather useless thanks to FUtobucket.
On my original spring you could see where the remnant of the prior part number stencil existed (the smaller numbers) before they overstamped it with the updated number. |

So, in 70-71 had different part number. Early 72 Jan-March had same part numbers.
After that different...do the Judges know this? Pontiac was in turmoil...
