Try putting a half a pound of air in the rear tires, then try another half pond and see if the 60' pics up.

I am impressed with the way you and the team are sticking to the game plan. The careful, baby step approach is serving you well. There will be some bumps along the way as now the track prep, and ability to get the car to 60 ft. become more and more of a factor. No doubt, power will not be an issue. It has to feel great after all the hard work, twists and turns. Congratulations.

While I can see the car running in the 6 second zone. IMO Just adding another 1000 HP will not do it. I can see the car running in the 6 second zone with adding much less than a 1000 HP if you are able to get the chassis / 60 foot time more inline with where they should be.

My statement regarding more available power is not a one item change to get in the sixes,. As you can see, Ed will incrementally work to the 6 second goal. I agree, it will not need 1000 more horsepower to get there.

Put the pedal to the metal next time?

The pedal is 100% down on the launch anyway, 4400rpm on the 7.8x run with ~4.5 lb of boost. I tried lower rpm "3400" earlier in the day, but wasn't building boost, launched like a slug.

It has all been an amazing feat so far and thanks for keeping us in the loop from the very beginning.
The Raven is pure solid bad azz to the bone.

69 Camaro with a 69 Ram Air 4, 4speed.

11.72 @ 119.75 back in the late 90's/early2000's. I still have the camaro. I did have an automatic in a 75 grand prix that had an automatic that I raced a little with in the mid-80's.

With regards to the NHRA license, I'll update it once the car is consistently running mid 7's.

Hey Stan,

Had to fly out early this morning, I'll take a look and see if I at least saved a screenshot last night like the other I've been posting.

Hey Jack,

We've been dropping air pressure while modifying the 2-step rpm and launch boost psi, no shock, 4-link or wheelie bar height changes yet. We intended to do some chassis tuning a few weeks ago with the chassis builder Mike Hall, but ran into a few issues which used up the track rental.

We'll give that a try once we have consistent 60 footer.

Was thinking that was probably your fastest ride to date, and your screen name too.
Wasn't sure what times it had posted before .
Its a fast car. [to boulevard people like me]

Going 4 seconds faster must feel like getting shot out of a cannon !

Hey Stan,

Do these formulas look right to you?

Conv Slip 1st -100*(([DriveShaft Speed]*2.10)-[RPM])/[RPM]
Conv Slip 2nd -100*(([DriveShaft Speed]*1.40)-[RPM])/[RPM]
Conv Slip 3rd -100*([DriveShaft Speed]-[RPM])/[RPM]

Wheel HP [Fuel Flow]/0.65/1.3
Wheel TQ [Fuel Flow]/0.65/1.3[RPM]*5252
Crank HP [Fuel Flow]/0.65
Crank TQ [Fuel Flow]/0.65/[RPM]*5252

Also, what do you guys do to account for tire growth if you're only using driveshaft speed to calculate MPH?

Thanks,
Ed

Hey Ed,
I use
Slip % = 1 - (engine RPM / (driveshaft RPM * trans gear ratio)) which from a quick calculation produces about the same answer as your formula.

The HP calculations are based on a BSFC of 0.65 either TomV or you engine builder might have a better number to use.

The wheel HP calculations also use the same 0.65 BSFC and a 1.3 factor or about 77% of the HP makes it from the engine to the wheels. I would think 77% is a little low.

Also remember fuel flow is in pounds per hour for these calculations.

Stan

as engine rpm dictate boost at lower speeds we found that 5200 worked best for launch then let the boost controller step it in real quick after that --

What I learned about "raven" from the dictionary:

raven [noun] > largest crow (we all knew that)
raven [adj] > black and lustrous (certainly true of Ed's car)
raven [vt] > to voraciously devour prey (in the car's future?)
