Looks like you are going to have to go with ultra-lite tackle and set the drag appropriately.

I love to fish.
My "bass boat" is a 17' canoe that I've been dragging around for 35 years. Something I've discovered along the way....... If that was my boat and that was what I was catching (and I have), I'd be happy.

Same here!!! When I was a kid, growing up in Eastern Iowa, fishing was my main interest. There were magazines, and maybe comic books that had the back cover with an ad of fishing tackle covering the whole back page. A picture of a load of fishing gear for like $19.95, maybe $29.95. I REALLY wanted to order that deal...never did....

Here in Minnesota its fishing opener weekend use to be a big deal when I was a kid. No one seems to get too revved up about it anymore. It is always a good time of year to celebrate you survived winter. I've caught northern pike bigger than that boat. Ha

I quit little league because practice was interfering with my fishing. Don't do it nearly enough any more. My wife loves it too...In fact, this thread just gave me an idea for Mother's Day.

I’m scheduled to charter the “Outrigger” for my annual deep sea fishing trip in two weeks. Hopefully they have opened up since the shutdown several months ago due to CV-19. I’ll be calling the Skipper today, he said last week he would know after a meeting (yesterday).
I have my fingers crossed...when I talked to the Skipper last week, he said they had opened it up for local residents, and the fishing was good. I will post a picture from last June, I moved it up a couple weeks this year based on previous fishing results.

I love fishing, especially in winter or lately November, but honestly what I don't like is a scaling a fish that's why I prefer to leave such "interesting" work for my family, and of course they also don't like this thing. But not counting scaling - fishing is a great entertainment, specially nowadays during quarantine time.

I scale my fish with water from a hose. Start at the tail and work forward, Since I mostly fished for bream and crappie, after scaling them, I froze them whole. When it came time to eat some I would remove the head and internals as one frozen lump.

I miss trout fishing up in the Adirondack mountains of New York. Here in Delaware they say they've stocked streams with trout, but I find it hard to believe they'd live for very long..... Thank You DuPont.
I also miss fishing Lake Champlain, the St. Lawrence River, and the streams/rivers from Massena, NY all the way over to Lake Champlain. We even had Salmon in the Grass River at Massena. I found that out 15 years after I moved away from Massena. That's how good of a secret it was. LOL
