FLAPS will have a 5/8" to 3/4" hose adapter like this one:

Then just use two short pieces of hose to bypass the heater core.

You can use a piece of 3/4 inch, and tighten the hose clamp on the cylinder head end (5/8 inch) real tight. It will be fine for a fire up, done it many times.

LOL....my stepbrother is from the NYC area, is a year younger, and had a '65 just like mine except his was Fontaine Blue instead of Blue Charcoal and his was totally rusted out. Bad enough so it was too unsafe to drive to CA. He couldn't believe the 'zero rust' on the CA cars. Hell, my car still runs its original brake and fuel lines and body mounts, etc. Here's a photo of mine when I had the rear bumper off. All Original....just wiped the dust off of the frame rail...

Geeteeohguy...You guys are lucky, or were lucky, to have so many rust free cars to choose from. By the time I bought my cars('80 not '81) they were all rusted and if they weren't they certainly were more money than a high school kid could afford.

So the car comes back from the glass shop tomorrow. I am now officially out of savings. I have what I believe to be all the stuff necessary to get it running. Once that’s done I’m gonna bolt the crappy old seat in it until my taxes come back at which time I’m gonna have the seats covered. Can’t worry about AC and the rest of the interior right now. But that’s the plan. I activated the full coverage insurance on it and am gonna move it under its own power in about 3 weeks to a month if the good lords willing and the creek don’t rise LOL

Getting in it and starting to use it as a car right now is, IMO, the right thing to do. The interior, etc. will come. In the mean time, you'll be shaking it down and building memories (and confidence) in the car. I've seen cars that were 98% done sit for YEARS because the owner was stalled out on a seat, shifter, or headliner. Seriously. Everything had to be 'perfect' before it hit the road and others saw it. So guess what? It never made it to the street.

So how long should it take rubber to compress? What I mean is the door rubbers are obviously new and on the passenger side it made it a “hard close” but on the drivers side you almost have to slam it. I took the door bumpers off and that helped a little but I am really not comfortable with the level of effort required to get the door fully closed

My trunk lid took a while but my doors close awesome with a solid thunk, no real effort required. Maybe try using old door bumpers or trimming yours down, they're cheap. If the doors loosen up over time you could always replace the bumpers again.

Some of the repro rubber weatherstrip is 2 or 3 times the thickness of the original weatherstrip. I'll photograph the strip on my '65 GTO, which is original, for your reference and post it in a short while. Had a friend with a '67 and he had to take the thick stripping off and install the right stuff that actually fit.

Can someone please tell me how to rotate the pictures? I am slowly whittling down the list of things to do. It’s basically piddly little aesthetic stuff except for plumbing and wiring the fuel injection and exhaust. I am taking the seats Thursday or Friday to have them covered and then hopefully I’ll be driving it at least a little

Try this, before you post a pic go in and rotate it. It only takes 1 deg. This should keep it from rotating when you post it. Also, do this before you get onto the forums to post a pic, not during. Not sure what you are using to take pics but this works with my iPhone. HTH
