Default Very unusual 66-7 Rally stripe kit

found this on ebay
I dont have access to my literature at the moment so could use some help.
This rally stripe is what we used to call a "competition stripe" pretty much lining up with driver on entire top of car.

I think this is listed as an accessory going by the 6 digit #.

Has anyone seen this in the wild?

1969 Parts book lists it as an accessory, as you suspected.

66-67 T/6-T/8 Cpes. & Conv 984722 STRIPE PKG. rally, (red)

Looks like it was offered in Black, Red ,White, and Blue
Don't think i have seen one in real life.......
Cool find.

I've had this on file for years but never seen one applied.

These appear to me to be a simulated version, they look larger/wider.

Jeff do you still have that kit or did I end up with it?
kinda odd that both are red
I thought the real gem was the printed instructions.

Fun! That's what I am doing now - accessory engineering, for a lot of graphics and films. Special Editions, racing stripes and such.

One of the things I have to do is write installation instructions.

Cool find! I have not seen many cars with this accessory. I guess it did not really catch on back then.?

You might be thinking about the Sprint stripes?

Maybe it was in a Pontiac magazine. I have a mental picture of a white 66 front end like coming at you with a black rally stripe on the hood. Again, maybe I’m delirirous

Wow that’s bad, especially when it is wrapped around the header panel. I can see why that was not so popular.

I think it would have looked better if the tidbits at both ends would have been left off.
I can reproduce if anyone is interested
