Looking at the buildsheet from your car, or the buildsheet from another '77 isn't going to help much. I suppose it would help a little if one's trying to restore a factory airconditioned car that the heated rear glass, harness, & switch had been removed, or vice versa.

On an original build sheet for this plant '77 Pontiac, box 31, IF it's legible will note a two letter (pick) code for the alternator. With no '77 Assembly Manual copies available, & limited info avail in the '77 Service manual, etc, one is left to examine very original cars OR listen to serious collectors/restorers that have... As a long time Pontiac collector, restorer, & original parts provider, original Pontiac alternators, brackets, pulleys, correct water pumps, are something that have a VERY good handle on.

Default alternators

Wallace racing shows 3 55 amp alternators for 1977. They are as follows: 1102478,1102482,and 1102486 all for ac or rear defogger. I think.i have 2482 and 2486. I can check if you like.

Will ck the rebuilt stock I have & post back. The K of '76 dated "296" pump that I have, the date code has been abraded quite a bit by previous mass rebuilders shot cabinet. Will also go through stock of original exhaust manifolds. In clearing out my garage in town, came across two beef boxes full of mid 70's Pontiac ex manifolds.
