I'm helping a friend try to find this car. The plate shows TX but who knows if thats where it is now. He'd like to try and buy the car but the site it's on doesn't have the car at their location and won't offer any owner information, not even a PHS, They want him to buy the car basically sight unseen. Any help is appreciated.

I'm in Houston, TX, and looked at a 72 H.O. GTO in the late 90s that is identical to this one. It was located in my neighborhood, not far from my house. A friend of mine in the neighborhood was also selling his '71 TA that was already redone, so I bought it instead. Paid $6500 for the TA, which included a ton of extra Pontiac parts. I ended up selling most of the parts, which paid for everything! Back to the GTO......it was just a roller in Scooter's [ the guy's nickname] garage and needed paint and the motor rebuilt. I never saw him or the car again! He did show me the 7F6 heads, which were production heads due to the recesses in the intake port dividers, which he had brazed up. FWIW

I restored that car in 1997. It won GTOAA Best of Show in Atlanta GA. in 1997. It was all numbers matching at the time. I see many modifications done to it since I sold it. The hood pins in a perfect hood really breaks my heart!

Do you know where it came from? I saw the Texas plate and figured it had to be the same car.

If you mean new, it was a dealer in Harrisburg PA. Spent it's life in central PA. Until I sold it.

Jeff was the red '72 HO Roller a factory AC car?
Realize some transient Northern cars made it far South, but decades ago, a non AC 72 HO car def seems odd in TX.

Bob, was the '72 originally a KR wheel car?
Wheels appear to be '73+ with repop trim rings.

Car was numbers matching all around, including the original KR wheels and correct trim rings. No A/C. I even had the repo G 60 x15 raised white letter God Year tires. I had to recreate to correct tire label for the glove box door. Did not have the rear wing. It did have the factory 8 Track. I restore.d it to the build sheet.

Hello Rodger, I'm sorry to say that I don't remember that part of the equation, and I was pondering it as well. I'm pretty sure it was a local car from this area, so it would have had AC. It was probably sold new at Gay Pontiac just down the road. In fact, my '71 TA with AC, and quite a few of the local Pontiacs, were sold there as well.

Thanks for confirming Bob Just looking at many pics including the underbody pics (other than the rear swaybar) could tell this '72 had previously received a VERY high quality restoration. Do remember this '72 from Atlanta '97.

Hopefully the new owner will recognize the significance of this '72's original build & spend the coin to have the hood & decklid professionally repaired & repainted. The first thing i would do is exorcise the "Hotrods to Hell "AC setup, & begin sourcing a proper dash bezel, radiator, & a set of KR wheels.

I do not have the build sheet. It would be in all the paperwork that went with the car. All I have is a very poor copy of the PHS billing sheet.
