Default Historical facts, vs Stories, NOT passed down

Used to be we would fight the push in the car community that All Camaros had Rally Wheels, all 1970 Pontiac Trans Ams had BFG tires. . We know it's not true, but as marketing moves on some stuff becomes Fact to guys. That said:
I have seen " MANY" supposedly Historically correct videos that are Ai generated, and it's easy to tell. Saw one on a WW2 Sherman tank. This was SOO bad, bad chronology, Abrahms Tanks while mono tone voice talks about ww2 facts that were out of order.
AND when Ai says , let's say 20,000, it will often say
" thousand twenty " as if it Asian ( they read from right to left).
There are MANY you tube players getting stupid clicks AND positive comments on these.
Ai took 3 pics of people with their pet rescue tiger, and made a long tear jerker story that Never happened, then folks in their 80's are just overwhelmed.. click click click...
BEWARE you may not be seeing truth, yes it happens with videos on Pontiacs too.
RANT off..

Yeap, the rock music photos get a statement that identifies 2/3 or 3/4 correctly and gets an obvious musician wrong.

When you see " ...highly regarded.." in the statement it AI

Click bait vids are pretty easy to spot and anything with the AI voice I just close immediately.

I've never understood the point of a false statement or made up story represented as fact.... But even this Website (like all) has a few story tellers that don't let facts get in the way of a good fable.

After awhile I get disheartened and just ignore the story. Seems untruths or partial truths are the way of life today. Maybe it's a psychological ploy!?

Mostly because it's become de rigueur to change history nowadays.

I think its less about any agenda to alter history in this case and more just lazy content. So I play with my little Youtube channel. As part of that I lurk on some Reddit forums for small YT channels.

There are ALOT of people grinding out some semblance of a living or a side hustle with low effort content, often with AI help. Just because if you flood the zone you might get enough views to generate some revenue. And while I wouldn't call the algorithms luck, there is an aspect to throwing enough darts that something will blow up, even if its trash. These content "creators" often work waaaay harder on Search Engine Optimization efforts than they do on the content itself. Keywords "Sherman Tank" for example etc. There is also a "hate watch" aspect to it, where if they deliberately put something that isn't true, and one of you guys comment about it, Facebook, YT, Instagram just sees that as engagement.

Similar but maybe even slimier, there are a lot of guys who will operate 20-30 channels at a time where they cut up episodes of House, band of Brothers, pick your popular show and use AI to create reels out of them. Knowing full well they will get banned for copywrite issues eventually. But they just constantly open a new one as soon as the old one gets banned and juggle a ton of channels at once.

Whenever there is some way for people to make money and not have to actually go to work people are going to take advantage. When I worked in the poker industry in vegas it was the same. There were tons of "pro" players who ground out livings if you wanted to call it that. More often than not it seemed like more work and stress to me than just having a boss. But I guess it is nice to have your own schedule.

They do this on purpose to try and get a comment correcting the the BS. There is a ton of stolen content also. They also on purpose cut a vid short to make people complain about it being cut short...vicious cycle.

All ‘64 through ’66 GTOs came with Tri-Power and a 4-speed.

Right?

No, my neighbors uncles brother in law's cousin had a 66 GTO, with a big block Chevy from the factory. 427. He knew a salesman at the dealer who ordered it for him. It was so fast, the cops made him sell it.....

I do like to casually say "My all time favorite car is a 1963 GTO" within earshot of classic car people. When someone inevitably tells me Pontiac didn't make a GTO until 64, I say, "No, no.....I mean a 1963 Ferrarri GTO"

Misdirection or Mis-information

Here we are 50-60 years later and the crap that has become commonplace is staggering. Every flipper and classic car dealer is guilty of at least one of these myths.
Big block Pontiac, 2 speed Powerglide, dealer installed Judge package, Hurst edition GTO or Firebird, Judge with factory 4.11 gears, 68 -72 Judge clones/tributes with wrong stripes, poor decal placement, crappy aftermarket spoilers, of course the red Buick air cleaner decals on pretty much any Pontiac V8 no matter the year or model. Seeing a car for sale without any of this crap is so refreshing (and rare) now

The first problem is watching u tube! The second are the people that believe most of what they see. The third is getting all of your information off of the internet and not reading a book or visiting a library.

Sometimes there is a basis in fact.

I became familiar with round port motors in 1976. I tried to swap out my 67 400HO in my Firebird with a 1971 455HO, then was down for weeks while I waited to get exhaust manifolds that would fit. I bought a 1970 T/A and an all original 1971 T/A in 1982. I bought Ram IV heads for the 1970 T/A.

Around the same time I saw a 1971 or 1972 Lemans 4-dr with a 455HO motor in it. There is a lake not too far from where I lived then. I saw a 4-dr car Lemans with 455 emblems, so I struck up a conversation with the owner. He said he needed a family car and wanted something with power that was capable of towing his boat, so he ordered a 455HO. I looked at the motor, it had round port heads and aluminum intake and the HO manifolds. I didn't go as far as scrape the block code, but I saw enough to know the top end was at least 455HO.

I've told this story a few times, nobody believes it. I don't remember if it was a 1971 or 1972. And it's entirely possible the owner swapped the motor or maybe just the top end. But I'm positive the car had 455 emblems and the engine had a round port top end.

Another example: I ran into a guy who claimed he was the original owner of a 1970 Judge 4-spd. He had wrecked the car and it was sitting behind the barn at his parent's house. I went to look at it. The car had original paint, with Judge wing and stripes. The engine was a WT. It was mising the glove box decal. I told the guy it couldn't be an original Judge because it didn't have a Ram III. He said he bought it new and had the paperwork. I ran into him a few weeks later, and he did have paperwork. It was a "dealer installed" Judge package. The dealer added a wing and stripes to the car and sold it as a Judge. The guy wasn't happy about it, but it made sense.

All Pontiacs had Buick stickers on the air cleaners.

I have an original 74 SD Formula car. The passenger side fender has a Formula 350 emblem from the factory. I often thought it was a dealer installed "sleeper" option but the original owner confirmed it was just a goof up.
