Default Electrical question

First post in the 70-73 section. See below for introduction post in Lobby.

I have a hood activated plunger switch by my battery (See pic). Is this a switch for the under hood light? I’ve searched the web, but can’t find anything so far.
OEM or Aftermaket?

I can't say what it is for sure, but my gut guess would be some sort of car alarm. You should trace the wiring and see where it leads to better determine what it's for.

Wire does not exist.
The hood does trigger it.

It's not factory. The factory light and switch is a mercury switch type. Mounts on hood.
