I have noticed that most of the 68 GTO's that are on this site, the cars are missing the GTO letters on the rear quarters.
Is that a choice or were the letters a factory option?

They were standard. But I've noticed that after a repaint the average owner doesn't reapply the decal. Might be that they're unaware that reproductions are available. For those on this site, it may be a personal thing.
My car has been painted for 5 years now, is nearing the end of its six year restoration, and I still haven't added the decal. Sounds like something I can do tomorrow.

The first time we ran our new 68 GTO through the automatic car wash the stickers blew off.
Dad saw the owner and a couple workers huddled around the car off to the side. He approached them and the owner said "Van - I'm really sorry but those decals came right off". Dad looked at it for a minute and said "Good. Now I don't have to do it." K

If anyone has a special place to order them, please let us know.
I'm looking for a set of White letters and two venders say out of stock with no time when restocked.

The OEM decals stick pretty good to new paint that's never been waxed etc.
I found original decals on ebay quite a few years ago. Still worked great and had that every so slight "not white" color.

Glad I saw this, never realized that was another difference vs 69s, two rear end visuals now for quick recognition, chrome bumper over the taillights and these stickers if they're still on.
I can see in modern car washes theses stickers get obliterated after a couple washes, especially the spinning brushes washes.
