Yup that’s my old girl. I love how they made up some story that it is a three family owned car....well at least three families since I finished the restoration and sold it.

Looks like she has held up nicely in the 6 years since I sold her. I sent them an email with some links to the thread and the Hemmings articles along with a correction of mileage and ownership numbers. We shall see if they take me up on the invitation to talk about the car.

Hey Steve. I've inherited 5 ugly honeycomb wheels that need resto. Love how yours turned out. If you have any suggestions for best practices on re-gluing the honeycomb substrate to the underlying metal rim, I'd be "all ears". Seems to be the biggest issue with my set of rims.

Also, when your rims were media blasted, did you have rust that needed removal? Or just paint? Was thinking, if rust, will need glass/silica media, but if just paint, did soda or walnut shells work for you?

Wow! I’m not sure how I missed that, but so thankful you posted that cool video back then Steve! I am using it as true motivation towards completing my project now.
That is definitely on my bucket list… to figure out a way to do that route 66 trip with my ‘70 when completed!

I've used the urethane 2-part panel adhesive that now comes in the spiral-tipped, double cylinders that require a semi-expensive caulking gun to use. (versus the old days when they came in 2 separate "toothpaste" tubes.)

I had mine media blasted to remove the old paint and the surface rust from the back. They can use sand or plastic media since the urethane rubber material repels both and only the paint is affected.
