1970 inner door handle washers
In 1970 were there round plastic washers used with the inner door handles (same ones as under the window cranks). They make sense on the window cranks but don't seem to have any function on the door handles.
If they were used, where did they go? Gracias. |

For 71 & 72, and very likely 70 also, there are no washers used for the door handles. There is a foam washer used inside the door between the shaft and door panel that many are missing.

No round plastic washers (plate) used with the inner door handles in 1970.
But, like DV said, there is a foam washer seal, #7591000, used inside the door between the shaft and door panel. |

#58 in the parts diagram above, correct? And this is foam and between the outside of the door panel and the handle? Anyone have a pic?

What's their purpose? Keeping the panel from moving or sealing from airflow or ??? Must not be about abrasion or they would be solid, right?

Supposedly blocks airflow through door into passenger compartment. Never found that to be a problem. On looking closer these foam washers seem to fit between the metal inner portion of the door and the door panel. Not visible when installed.
Doing the final buff and burnish before she goes to Mecum Kissimmee on Wednesday. Lot L110. Goes across the block on Sunday Jan 11. The market is soft and I'm not too optimistic that the reserve will be met. Part of me hopes it does not sell. It's been a 25 year project. |
