75/76 400 block using a rear pvc location valley pan
Curious,
I have a 75/76 400 block with 69 #62 heads. That eventually will be rebuilt and installed in a 66 GTO. Will a rear mounted PCV valve valley pan work? Will have a Tri power on top. Thanks |

Yes, a rear mounted PcV is what was used under a Tripower intake.
If this is an original one be aware that they can internally be coated with a lot dried up oil and carbon that once exposed to fresh oil mist will come loose and can and has clogged off oil pump screens.

I used to cut those covers open and clean them and re-spot weld them when done. Big job. Not necessary anymore. A large enough ultrasonic cleaner will clean those pans as good as new. It takes a little time, but they come out beautiful. I have inspected them with a camera and they look brand new.

Oh, and you will need a set of these to get that 400 bolted into your 66.

thanks to both of you. On the block adapters... My block has the 5 mount bosses, so I believe the adapter is not needed. I am going to first try electrolysis on the pan. If that does not work out, I'll hunt down someone with a large enough ultrasonic cleaner. Thanks again

That process is mainly for rust so it might not be of much help.
I did one in a bucket of very hot water that a sprayed two cans of oven cleaner into after I had already sprayed a can into the cover and let that sit for 1 hour. It did a fine job.

also, make sure your timing cover has the dimple to clear the tri-power thermostat housing, although there are alternative methods.
