(THIS IS ALSO POSTED ON 77-81 T/A TECH) My 79 T/A was doing just fine electrically when my son started to wiggle a headlight connector to get it to turn on (at the time the inginition was turned on, car not running, headlights and hi-beams on). One of the low beams was not on, so he tried to wiggle that connector. He got it to turn on and then jumped in the car to start the car. The car just went dead (no cranking, no lights, no buzzer, etc). I tried to jump the car, but nothing is coming on. We checked the fuse box, but didn't really find anything. My thoughts after looking at the wiring diagram is a possible bad battery cable or something called "fuseable link"? When I get home today, I will check the battery, to rule that out, but what else could it be? I have never seen a car with absolutely no power, especially with jumper cables connected. Another interesting thing that happened while troublshooting was that after trying to jump start the car, we did notice the dome light come on after we were about to call it a night, so we jumped in and tried to turn the ignition, the car went completely dead again. If it is a fuseable link, where is it located? Could it be a loose wire from the positive terminal to the starter? (I don't believe in things becoming "loose" all of a suddent, so I havent checked it yet). With nothing coming on and the jumper cables connected, it is acting like an open circuit from the power source.
