I just bought a 89 Grand Prix from a used car lot, looked like it had been sitting a while. I drove the car thirty or fourty miles, no problems, great accelloration. Stopped at a auto recycling yard to find a new cassette player. Came out and it started and died!!! I did this until my brother showed up, then it would start. But once it started it would die if you hit the gas pedal. I can ease into the pedal and I can get the car to abour 2000 rpm and it just falls on it's face.
After I got home from work I went to pull the car into the driveway and it ran fine.
I changed the fuel filter and found lots of small black particals in it, seemed normal. Took it for a test drive and it ran great for about half a block then back to the dieing again.
Fuel pump?
fuel regulator?
Something electical?
Any help out there?
