There is a lot of talk on the boards about dual exhausts with x-pipes, etc. But what are you all doing with late '70's exhausts that use a cat? Are you just removing the cats? Has anyone used a dual cat setup to X-pipe and dual mufflers on a 2nd gen Firebird?

Right now, I am running a single exhaust - y-pipe to Cat (higher flow than the original stock pellet type), single pipe to a Magnaflow transverse muffler and dual exit pipes. Would there be a noticeable benefit to coming off the cat with a Y-pipe to dual mufflers (as I believe was done on the T/A 400 engines in 78-79)?
