64 gto, 389 4 barrel sitting in place with no front clip. I would like to start it before putting the rest of the car back together if possible. I hooked up the battery cables to the starter and the block and hooked a remote start switch to the starter to turn it over. Then I hooked a hot lead to the + side of the coil. At first I had the black wire from the distributor hooked to the - side of the coil and I wasn't getting any fuel so I replaced the fuel pump. Then while reading in the 64-70 restoration book I saw that the coil wire goes to the + side of the coil so I moved it and then when I hooked the power up to it again I smoked it. Definitely doing something wrong here and I need a few tips on what to hook where so I can start this engine. Help!
