I have a 455 and 3:73 rear end. I had a 4 speed in the car and blew the clutch out. Come to find out I need a 11 inch clutch to handle the torque of the 455. This means buying a new flywheel and pressure plate and clutch. I am told the Muncie will not hold up the 455. Sounds like a good time to put the original parts on the shelf and change to an automatic trans. Any suggestions on good combinations. It will go into a 70 TA.
Do I need a different trans. mount? What type of torque converter? Is a trans brake better than line lock. Who makes a good trans. What about the 4 speed trans (auto).
Are there any good five speeds (man) that will hold up.
All of your experience will be very helpful.
Dave
