i just bought an 81 camaro that has a pont. 400 punched 30. has edelbrock performer rpm intake and edelbrock 750 carb. The carb has been taken apart b4. I knew this cuz one of the metering rods was bent at a 90 degree angle. Also one of the floats was hanging at 2 1/2 in! I rebuilt the carb and readjusted the floats and fixed the metering rod. I turned the adjusters out 1 1/2 turns each. i thought this would cut down on the gas spitting back out the carb, but it didnt. I just cant get the thing runnin. I put a points distributor in it and set everything by the book. i know the timing has to be close but it still backfires occasionally when i try to start it. I am so stumped on this one. ill take any ideas i can get. feel free to email me at [email protected]
