To make things a little easier for myself I ordered a head kit from Bruce Fulper of Rock and Roll Engineering in California. This deal was a verbal agreement over the phone. To date I have never received any receipts or documentation for a set of ported Edelbrock Pontiac heads, roller cam, hydraulic lifters, 1.6 rockers, springs, and distributor gear I originally ordered. The total agreed cost was in the area of $3500.00. A high figure to say the least, and I was willing to pay for service and speed.

The agreed delivery time was to be three months after I sent a check for the total cost of the project. Unwittingly, I agreed, but only sent an initial check for $3000.00 and assured Bruce Fulper I would sent the rest upon delivery.

Delivery:

I waited four months without a word from Rock and Roll engineering. Of course I started calling and followed up the calls with E-Mail messages expressing my concern about delivery. There were many various excuses about suppliers, manpower, ETC. None of these problems should have been any of my concern. I was never offered a refund, or any other type of compensation for the excessive delay on delivery.

On several occasions I asked for a complete refund because it had now been six months. Eventually I did get Rock and Roll Engineering to send out what I though would be my order. I provided them with a credit card number for the remainder of my bill and shipping. Several times I asked about the completeness of the order and was assured everything was ready to be shipped. The order was to be delivered before the first of July (now four months late), I finally received my order around 6 July 2001.

Shipped Short:

With great zeal I unpacked two Edelbrock boxes only to find the shipment only contained two assembled heads, no cam, no lifters, no rockers, no cam gear, no flow sheets, no cam specs, no spring specs, and most of all no shipper or receipts. I called immediately about the rest of my shipment and finally determined someone had not gotten my credit card number correctly transcribed. The result was for Rock and Roll Engineering to hold the rest of my order "Hostage" ,instead of sending the order on to me. It should be noted Rock and Roll Engineering had been holding $3000.00 of my money for seven months, it doesn't seem far fetched I should get some consideration when the cash is reversed. Why didn't they send my parts on and resolve the credit card problem later, or COD them to me.

Conclusion:

It is now 1 September and I still haven't received the specifications on these heads. When I asked for the flow sheets, I was told there was none taken. I still haven't gotten my GTO back together (tore down for three months), why you might ask.

I had to reorder all of the components not shipped to me by Rock and Roll Engineering.
Ordering parts at this time of year resulted in backordered roller lifters and push rods.
I had to send the heads out to be verified, because I did not get any information about the heads and springs.

The head testing (Burtonsville Performance, Md) included flow bench, spring pressure, and combustion chamber size, ETC. The results were the heads flowed almost up to my expectations, the valve spring pressure was excessive, 175lbs closed and 465lbs open, and coil bind @ .630". This pressure is extremely high for a 6000 RPM 455 with hydraulic roller lifters. I had to pay $75.00 for the flow bench test, $129.00 for new springs + labor $112.00 for a total out of pocket cost for just a set of ported Edelbrock heads of $3,323.35. I am still due a refund from Rock and Roll Engineering for over $600.00.

I contacted Bruce and he replied he was going to charge me a 25% restocking charge on the parts he didn't send me.

In Conclusion this is not the supplier to use for any kind of machine work.
