Was having problems with starting my car a few weeks back and figured out it was a bas voltage regulator, so this weekend I installed the voltage regulator from my 71 gmc and my 65 catalina started right up. I let her run for about 20 mins at idle and then decided totake her down the street when all electrical and the motor all of a sudden died.I tried starting it again with nothing. the starter doesn't click over, I get no power to the dash or radio. It almost seems like the whole system got fried somehow. It all shutoff as soon as I got it backed out of the driveway and was going to put it into drive.I thought maybe it was a bad ignition switch because I was having problems with it before, but I thought I fixed it.Could a bad switch cause a loss of power everywhere? I ckecked the back of the switch and I'm reading 12 volts but for some reason its not getting anywhere. So for now i'm at a loss. I even thought it might have been the voltage regulator from the gmc but it had started fine before with no problems. Any ideas would be appreciated.
