For anyone who had to replace the lower patch panel on a 72 GTO, how did you get around the extractor area? Since all 72 panels do not have provisions for the extrator.

Seems it would be very tough to not only cut out, but then to weld in the tabs that hold the extractor in. Did you you the whole panel or cut along the leading edge of the extractor and just patch in below that?
