Looks like you've got plenty of room in the pic. I don't think it will be much different in the car. Its the header that keeps the filter from going on and off not the frame or anything. I would take it to the muffler shop with a filter installed. Chances are it will be O.K. If not you can probably unbolt the filter adapter from the block to change the filter or to install a remote set-up. Good luck.
