"You don't really think Bruce Fulper would use an Eagle crank?"

I think he'd do what he had to to hook more customers. Maybe not an Eagle crank, could be a custom billet for all we know.

"Supposedly only about 9.5 to 1. with aluminum heads that might work."

Thats a big "might".

"LS1 Chevy is close in Bore and Stroke and some are probably at that horsepower level."

The LS1 makes that much power and torque? Which dyno was that pull made? Not even close. While the LS1 is a remarkable engine, its smaller and makes 320 HP at the flywheel, maybe slightly more. Not 539.

"The strange thing to me is that he picked up more hosepower with the nitrous than the rating for the pills. Most people I know seem to actually pick up a little less than the rated amount. That is a 150 shot usually only seems to give about 130 at the rear wheels."

Its really not strange. There are lots of examples of where a 150 shot will give you more than 150 HP. It all depends on how the motor is set up.

"I can think of no reason why a 350 Pontiac cannot equal any other engine of equivalent bore and stroke with equivalent heads, airflow, cam, and other parts. The trick is "EQUIVALENT"."

The problem is, there is no other 350 with the equivalent bore and stroke. Other people have tried to make big power with the 350P, this is npot the first time, by a long stretch. Are we to believe that all of a sudden, just like that, the 350P likes all these big dollar race mods? I'm not buying. Here's why:

Lets take a look at a few things. We'll start at the top and work our way down.

Carb: I have never seen an 850 CFM carb make more power on a motor that small that peaks out at 6500. 365 CI with a max power output at 6500 RPM?

Intake: HEAVILY modified. No doubts here, as the heads were raised ".270" on the intake roof. Intake has to follow suit. In fact, the article hinted that the engine liked the Victor even more! Which brings us to my next point.

Heads: Aside from being raised .270 on the intake roof, which I'll get back to in a minute, look at how heavily the heads were ported. They had to modify the rocker arm bolts and the valve cover bolts so they wouldn't protrude into the air passages. Have you ever know a motor that maxes out at 6500 and displaces 365 ci to use that much air? As far as the raising of the intake roof, same deal. That mod is usually reserved for high revving or big cubic inch motors. Why did the 350 "like" it, when we all know that some 455's don't use that much air? Hmmmmmmmmm

All these factors, plus the 87 octane thing, lead me to believe that there are more cubic inches than meets the eye to that motor. I could see if it was a 12:1 motor that revved to 7200, with all that stuff done to it, but something is rotten in the state of Denmark, ladies and gentlemen.

That is my opinion on the subject.
