JR,
You might check your local auto parts stores, particularly ones that carry a lot of body repair supplies. I found some stuff called strip caulk made by 3M. It is a black, somewhat sticky material that is like putty. It comes in thin strips about a foot long but you can roll and stretch these as needed. It's easily shaped and can be used to make all kinds of thin body gaskets. Once you find the stuff and begin using it you'll find a lot more uses for it. Hope this helps.
