Post Front end issue

I have some play in the drag link and idler arm on my '66 GTO. My mechanic said it needed a new drag link and idler arm I looked up the parts in my Year One catalog and discovered that in spite of the catalog application for a 1966, my drag link measured 13/16 diameter which they say is a 1964/65 application. I called Year One tech and asked which application to use, they said the 13/16. When my mechanic tried to install the new parts, it seems the holes for the tie rods are off and while the drivers side (pitman arm)bolted up perfectly, when he tried to connect the Idler arm side it pulled the wheel in toward the center of the car so much it would not be driveable We are afraid if we order the '66 center link it will hit the oil pan due to the difference in diameter. Should I order new outer tie rods and adjusting sleeves? or take my car to a front end shop and let them order the parts Thanks in advance for your help in this matter. Bill
