I recently picked up a 67 GTO. The engine is not original and I would like to try and find out what it came out of.
On the right side of the block by the water pump it says YT 0041613 YT = 400 CID 0041613 = Engine Production Number On the back of the block by the distributor it says E193. May 19th 1973? Down by the timing marks it says 24A10543. 2=Pontiac 4= 1974 car A= Atlanta plant 10543 = Last six numbers of the car VIN Heads 4X My questions would be if I have decoded these numbers correctly or are there any mistakes? Can I determine what it came from just from these numbers? Or are there any other numbers anywhere I can look for to help find out what model car it came out of? My guess is from some version of firebird but for some curious reason would like to know for sure. Thanks Guys |
