original harness had a fusible link in the power feed cable
I have a 1969 Lemans conv. Original harness had a fusible link in the power feed cable, I removed the fusible links and ran new wire. My 10 Ga power feed wire had a lot of splices in it.The fusible link is a smaller Ga wire. Will it cause any problems by not haveing them installed. (DK GRN TO RED AND BLK I think it was RED)
About 15 years ago I put a Delco HEI out of a 1975 wagon or somthing like that. I thought I would change it out with new HEI ,I bought CRT Performance HEI and it will not run with it installed the + battery cable gets Hot and fire shoots out of the carb. I reset the timing twice no help. I put my old delco back in and it runs fine.
I noticed when I was running new wire .I have a 14 GA BLK wire going to the bat side of the distributor this dose not seem wright. I found a cut wire BLK PINK or BLK Orange 14 GA I don't remember wright now located under the voltage regulator wire bundle. Tat seem more like the correct wire to run to the bat side of the distributor. I also have a in dash tach that has never worked what color wire goes there.
I still have to conect the red 10 ga to the starter,as soon as I do that I will check voltage to the distributor.
