Question Engine OFF and oil pressure still UP. ???

Hello everyone. This is a great forum and I've learned a lot already from reading tons of posts. I am wondering if this is normal....

When key is not in ignition, oil pressure gauge is at zero. When I turn the key to ignition (engine is still off) the oil pressure gauge shows 40. When I start the car, it shoots up to 60. Just wondering if it is normal for the gauge to show some pressure even though the engine is off. The oil pump I have is a higher capacity pump than the original. I just recently installed that gauge.

Also, I have a voltage gauge that bounces around a bit (from 13 to 14 volts) the first few minutes after I start the car. Once the engine runs for a bit, it seems to stabalize at 13 when idle and 14 when driving. Volt gauge is also newly installed.

It is a 1966 Pontiac 389 (I belive YC code).
