Some of you might remember my 400$ forged crank I bought of E-Bay.Well it is on its way to me from Crankshaft Specialist in Memphis TN.They pendulum cut the counterweights and took off 10 pounds.Double knife edged it,cut it down to 3" mains and welded up the thrust and reground the crank.002-.0025 on the rods and .0025-.003 on the mains.
Who knows how long this crank has been sitting around and when it was actualy forged or machined.It has been fully shot peened and they are not sure if it is a billet or a forging and from the way the snout looks it is new.No balancer marks.
My question is how do I tell if it has a old school type of oiling system or a more modern one like All Pontiacs forging.CS tells me if they sold it new it would cost around 2200$-2500$ so I am happy as I have 1000$ into it.And would it matter which type of oiling design it has in a real world application.
