Just bought a '62 Tempest LeMans ragtop and brought it home this past Tuesday. It has been parked since 1974 under a tarp in a one-car garage, along with a small Ford tractor. It is definitely restorable! The body is in very good shape, overall, and even the interior is intact, save for a rear seat bottom that has been a mouse house for a bit. The top is nothing but rags. The hood is bent a little, and the car needs a few things.
The car was less than a mile from my home! The former owner parked it out front of his house and stuck a FS sign on it. I'd driven by it several times over five or so days, stopped to look at it and wham! I bought it. Like I need another %&^%*^%-ing project, right? I've owned a few Pontiacs over the years, but am mostly a Mopar guy. I've had a '71 Formula, a '66 and two '68 Bonneville ragtops, and a Parisienne sedan. This is definitely a car with potential! Anyway, any of you that have experience with the '62s, I'll be picking your brains, I'm sure! BTW, there was a very nice '63 hood that came separate with the car. Anyone have a '62 hood they'd want to trade straight-up for??? |
