Front Axel disc brake issue

Hey guys, first time I've posted. Pretty much for a friend's car (hence my handle) Does anyone here know if one can take a 86 Firebird's front axle with disc brakes and bolt it straight onto a 69 Bird's one to replace the front drum brakes?

I'm curious so I can help answer my pal's dilema.
