I have looked at car forums and places to post about cars for years. Owned a few Pontiacs. Signed up here and there. A few of these posts seemed interesting enough to reply to.
Whoever owns this car is entitled to their privacy. For someone to say a car is crushed is assuming an awful lot. Then to send off a message to another public forum that someone else’s car was crushed seems a bit over the line. It was all taken from a private response to a private question that was posted for the public. This is why we all spend a bunch of time being so cautious about our numbers on all of our cards. (This was a good point by someone else).
This car might be in his or her basement fully assembled with the tag on the firewall fully assembled (Seems like I remember them being in the engine compartment on firewall behind motor on older cars). (I will also make an assumption that it’s a man). Looks like he also said he didn’t have it. (I’m also assuming there is such a car and he does actually own it). From that brief description, it sounds like a lot of the important parts are there. (Again, assuming it really came from that car). It could be anywhere. 48 pieces in a neighbors crawl space, farm buried in the weeds, a relative, etc. I’ve seen them all over and in all conditions. We have all heard or experienced the guy who just wants left alone and it’s not for sale. This may stop that. Maybe, wanted to see what people did. Like the guy who owned the chocolate factory.
Looks like a few of you think you know a lot about the car like you were trying to buy it and didn’t and there is a grudge. (Saw that posted by someone else and can’t take credit for it either). Maybe you owned it and took it apart. So you do know.
The a/c thing was either a mistake at the factory, added by one of the owners, or maybe he made a mistake and it didn’t have it.
This is a hobby to most and a way to meet people and enjoy cars. There are lots of cars put back together in whatever fashion and it’s nice to see them for that ten miles per year go down the road in America. It also employs a lot of people for parts and assembly. I’m not saying changing numbers around is right or wrong. Not going there. 50% of people just like to see them. 50% of them couldn’t care less. 1% of the 50% are worried about someone else’s car that the coat hanger is not right. (I saw that too). (I don’t even want to comment about that whole thing).
It’s great you are passionate about something, but a few of you are messing with someone else’s privacy. There could be a part of this supposed car bolted to one of yours. It may have been parted out 20 years ago. I’d like to see one of these cars, but wouldn’t go too far out of my way.
