4 bolt mains - dipstick - windage tray
Placing this under race, since I figured you guys with have more experience with 4 bolts. My builder is assembling a '68 400 for a stock GTO. Motor is just being built as an HO, with nice exhaust mainly for street and occasional strip use. The block already had after market 4 bolt mains installed. The factory windage tray will not fit on the mains and the 68 bottom dipstick tube appears to need to be bent to clear the main. Questions,
1.) Should I switch to the 72-77 lower tube with a bracket, if the windage tray cannot be used? I understand the lower tube needs something to keep it in place. Any other options? 2.) Is it worthwhile installing an after market windage tray (assuming original will not work)? Will it buy anything for street use with an automatic? 3.) Any other tips or advice on getting dipstick tube to clear the 4 bolt main? Sorry about the basic question and thanks for your help!
