One last trick he told me.Take one true leather belt and kerosene.Place the crank on a wooden support and start polishing.The trick is(I'm not sure maybe someone here knows)the direction to polish. As the metal journal has certain way the microscopic metal 'lays'.You want to laay this down not 'stand it up'.
