65 Vent Pull Knob Color

1. Anyone know the correct factory color for the vent pull knobs? Mine appear to have been chrome at one time (worn badly) not certain if orignal from 65.
2. How do the knobs come off, twist? Don't see any set screws etc. Maybe crush them and glue on the new ones?
