Info on my 65 GTO, 4 speed hardtop I have owned this car since 2001. It is a very reliable cruiser with all original sheet metal and minimal rust & no bondo (to my knowledge). Before I bought it, it spent most of its life sitting in a garage as a retired drag race car. I turned the car into a good street cruiser by installing a stock, lower compression Firebird 350 2bbl engine and rebuilt Muncie trans in it. It runs great, does not use any oil and is very reliable. It is easy to drive with power steering and the power brakes work very well. I never planned on selling it but my situation has changed and now so have my plans. Features: -Montero red exterior with black int and black vinyl top -power steering and power brakes -factory tinted windows -rally gauges -newly rebuilt close ratio muncie 4 speed with factory Hurst shifter -new clutch and re-surfaced flywheel -replacement radiator and heater core -new windshield -12 bolt rear end, 4.56 gears, rear stabilizer bar -all new brakes with silicon fluid -newer headers, full exhaust and chrome splitters -American mags with RWL tires -floor console -reverb (works) -padded dash -lower mileage, reliable, non-oil burning, Firebird 350 engine PHS documentation is available. According to the PHS, this car is an original Montero red, tri-power 4 speed car with many nice options. It has the original vin and trim tags/rivets and they have never been tampered with. This is a highly desirable car and an excellent car to invest in. The frame is solid and the undercarriage is very clean. The body is mostly original with the exception of a new trunk pan (the original had some rust starting so I had it replaced). The floors are original and were solid when the carpet was replaced 5 years ago (I will have to check again but I would not expect them to be any different). The gauges work except for the tach. The speedometer is good but it needs to have a cable installed. The paint job is over 30 years old and the car needs to be re-painted. The vinyl top is in very nice condition and probably only 6 years old. Overall, the body is very respectable for its age and the door/trunk/hood alignment is very good (also, it still has some T3 head lites). Interior is believed to be original except for the newer carpet and dash pad. There are some small wear spots on the bucket seats but I could not convince myself that it was necessary to re-cover them. This would be a very easy car to restore and highly desirable as it is a PHS documented tri power car. Also, I have a 65 389 YC block, #77 heads and a used tri-power that I planned on using on this car. I can make these parts available if you are interested. Also, if this is something you might like, I will get some new photos for you this weekend. Gary |
