I own a jewelry store and if I could "make" jewelry with a 3lb hammer and a torque wrench I'd be a good jeweler......

I know some truly gifted custom jewelers and I'm amazed at what they can turn out. One made a miniature grand piano ring for a local bar singer. Cast it, cut it, pave' set about a million little diamonds on the top of it. He even cut little ivory and onyx keys for it......
