Be careful with Plastic Race Fuel jugs
A friend of mine grabbed his plastic race jug by the rubber fill tube and started to walk outside to put gas in a truck and the jug rubbed his coverall pants leg. The resulting action caused a static electric discharge and the fuel jug blew up in his hand. While he is alive he almost lost his leg below the knee due to burns. He will recover, but has a painful road ahead.
I know I never thought of this happening and I grab my fuel jugs like this all the time. When I talked to the firemen they said that this happens quite often. You are supposed to touch metal before you pickup a fuel container to discharge any static electricity and then vent the cap to release any pressure before carrying the container. Just a safety announcement. Robert
