OMT,

I was thrilled to see the 109.75 mph. I usually ran 105-106, but on this run, there was a tailwind and everything else was "just right." With 7" M&H slicks and the 3.90 gears & wide ratio, it got off the line really good and ran 5500 rpm through the traps.

In 1965, my '64 had three-tube Doug's headers and a '61 big Pontiac Tripower (flat manifold). As part of the sponsorship, the dealer put the headers on and installed the 068 cam. I pulled the heads and milled them .035" and installed Isky Polylocks.

Since this was my only car, I usually washed off the Phil Tolkan lettering on Sunday nights so I could drive the car to work Monday morning without too much police attention. I re-applied poster paint Saturday.
