Default Balancing a Pro Star??

So, I went to Sears Autocenter because I HAD to have a tire yesterday to see if it fit my car, they had the tire in stock and the lowest price-or so I thought. Online price $95, store 121.59, what? I had driven a ways so I just bought the tire and had it mounted. I asked for chrome stem and stick on weights, no problem so far. Kid comes out 20 minutes later and says the tire wont balance unless he puts hammer on weights in the inside and outside. I tell him no, and recomment stick on weights again, he says OK. 20 more minutes pass he comes out and says he cant balance the wheel because of the "floating" center in the pro star wheel, says it moves and throws the machine off. My first clue should have been a 30 bay shop EMPTY at 4:30 and the oldest person there was about 21. SOOO is he right? where to get these tires balanced. I had some done years ago and it was not a problem, what should I do?
