Default Spark Plug in #7?

Ok ... I've changed a few spark plugs in my day but I can't get the ___ plug started in #7 on my 63/68 engine 400. It's under the steering shaft and it's a two finger job at the best. I have ground reliefs on the 13/16 th's short sockets that have and can't get the socket over a finger tight plug or get the plug started when it's in the socket! I have always worked on SBC's and Olds engines so this is my 1st go at a Pontiac. Is there something about Pontiac tool/head (#15) clearance? John
